Liquefied Natural Gas Trading and Support Services

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, at about -260° Fahrenheit, for shipping and storage. The volume of natural gas in its liquid state is about 600 times smaller than its volume in its gaseous state. This process makes it possible to transport natural gas to places pipelines do not reach.

The LNG we produce is shipped all over the world, turned back into natural gas (called regasification) and then transported via pipeline to homes and businesses and used as an energy source that is essential for heating, cooking on stoves and other industrial uses.

Natural gas is a cleaner-burning, abundant and affordable source of energy. When LNG is converted back to natural gas, it can be used instead of coal, which reduces the amount of pollution traditionally produced from burning fossil fuels, like sulfur dioxide and particulate matter that enters the air we breathe. And compared to coal, it produces significantly fewer carbon emissions.

Fueling a growing demand for LNG

LNG is rapidly playing a bigger role in the energy mix. LNG trade increased from 100 million tons in 2000 to nearly 300 million tons in 2017.For comparison, just 80,000 tons of LNG were shipped by two carriers in 1964, the first year of the LNG trade.

Ag-Port in collaboration with our partners  are involved at every stage of the LNG journey: finding the fields and extracting gas, maintaining LNG assets, liquefying gas and shipping it, then turning the LNG back into gas and distributing it to customers.
